Description
Oh boy, it is because we know it is coffee, but wauw this could be just a warm and soothing passion Fruit juice. It does not happen every week that we have a coffee on the cupping table that makes us dance and roar wooaaahh like we did with this one.
This very exeptional Caturra Purpura or Purple Caturra is produced by Rodrigo Sanchez, who together with his wife Claudia Samboni and Daughter Natlia is owning Finca Monteblanco in La Tocora, Huila, Colombia. It lies on a beautiful mountain top, hence it's name
The variety is named Caturra Purpura, because of the leafs the tree has that have a very rare purple color blended in. The variety has a higher brix dergee than average which means there are more sugars inside of the cherries. Only 26 trees on the farm are this variety so we are very happy to get our hands on the coffee.
You can smell the passion Fruit as soon as you open the fancy canister we have created for this super special coffee. The coffee is fermented with Passion Fruit and Cholupa, a Huila innate fruit close to passion Fruit, aslo know as bone granadilla. The fermentation takes place in airtight 200 liter barels for a total of 14 days untill the flavour of the fruit is in perfect balance with the coffee.
We will introduce this coffee at the Amsterdam Coffee Festival on March 30 till April 1st where we have a limited stock of 60 cans. Each can will contain 125 gram
It is thanks to your taste for rare specialty coffee that these farmers can make a significant increase on their ordinary earnings, which enables them to develop their land further.
