Description

From the northern highlands of Cajamarca comes this carefully curated coffee, representing the collective dedication of smallholder producers farming at exceptional elevations between 1,700 and 1,960 meters above sea level. Los Tulipanes brings together multiple farms across the communities of San Ramón, La Cascarilla, and Sector El Campo in the districts of Huabal, Jaén, and Callayuc.

The producers cultivate traditional varieties - Caturra, Bourbon, Typica, and Catuai - that have proven well-adapted to this high-altitude terroir. These varieties express the clarity, sweetness, and structure that define quality Peruvian coffee when grown in these ideal conditions.

What makes Los Tulipanes unique is the meticulous post-harvest approach managed by Cultivar, our sourcing partner. Rather than leaving processing to individual producers, they control and standardize the entire post-harvest process to achieve remarkable consistency across different micro-lots. The coffee undergoes a 96-hour natural anaerobic fermentation in sealed, low-oxygen plastic tanks, allowing slow, even flavor development.

The drying process is equally precise: 18 days on indoor African beds with controlled air ventilation, complemented by carefully timed three-hour sun exposure intervals every other day. This methodical approach ensures homogeneous moisture loss while preserving the coffee's cup clarity and fruit-forward character.

Los Tulipanes showcases how collaborative quality control and shared terroir can produce exceptional coffee that honors both tradition and innovation.
