Description
This coffee tells the story of resilience, passion, and dreams realized. Jesús Pablo learned coffee farming from his father as a child, creating his first nursery with 5,000 plants - an experience that shaped his life's path. Despite financial constraints that limited his early education, he persevered, eventually acquiring 12 cuerdas (4.7 hectares) of land through a significant loan, dedicating 11 to coffee while preserving one hectare of forest.
Jesús Pablo's journey hasn't been without challenges. Early harvests yielded only 5-7 quintals, and a devastating drought once destroyed an entire promising crop. Yet he continued investing in his farm, completely pruning and replanting sections, and experimenting with disease-resistant varieties like Anacafé 14.
Today, his dedication pays off. This year's harvest reached 13 quintals, with expectations of 15-16 for next season. By day, he serves his community as a nursing assistant at the local healthcare center. In his free time, he tends to his coffee with the same care he shows his patients.
This marks our fifth year working with Jesús Pablo, witnessing his incredible journey from struggling harvests to thriving production. After five years, we wanted to do something extra. His dream of installing a rainwater collection system to process coffee directly on his farm became our shared mission.
Through this coffee, his dream is becoming reality. When you buy this coffee, you automatically contribute €1,20 per kilo toward funding a water tank for his operation, which we double to €2,40 per kilo. Together, we're supporting this transformative project for Jesús Pablo's farm.
Together, we're not just enjoying exceptional coffee - we're supporting a farmer's vision for sustainable, quality production.
